Our fabrics, down to the gram

450 gsm brushed fleece, 280 gsm compact jersey, PFC-free water-repellent ripstop: the fabrics chosen for each RITMEN piece, and why.

You can judge a garment by looking at it. You really judge it by picking it up. The weight first, then the hand feel, then the way it springs back after you crush it in your fist. Here are the fabrics we chose, piece by piece.

450 gsm brushed fleece

This is the heart of the range: the R-01 Hoodie, the Heavy Joggers and the set that brings them together. 80% cotton, 20% polyester. Cotton for softness and breathability, polyester for structure: the piece keeps its shape wash after wash, and the ribbing doesn’t go slack.

At 450 gsm, the fleece has body. It hangs straight, it doesn’t cling, and the brushed inside has that thick feel you would recognise with your eyes closed. The double-layer hood keeps its volume instead of going flat at the back of the neck.

The brushed fleece of the zip hoodie and cargo joggers

Same blend, 80% cotton and 20% polyester, worked as a brushed fleece: a little more give for pieces you zip, unzip and move in all day. On the jacket, a matte black metal zip with a two-way slider.

280 gsm compact jersey

The Essential Tee is 100% cotton, tightly knitted. At 280 gsm it is far heavier than an ordinary t-shirt: more opaque in white, cleaner at the neck, and the boxy cut keeps its line. The ribbed crew neck is reinforced, because that is the first thing to go on a t-shirt.

The windbreaker’s ripstop

For the Technical Windbreaker, 100% polyamide ripstop, a grid weave that stops tears from spreading. The water-repellent finish is PFC-free: rain beads up and runs off, without the compounds that linger in the environment.

The accessories

  • The cap: washed cotton twill, 100% cotton, six panels, raised R embroidery.
  • The beanie: chunky rib in 50% merino wool and 50% acrylic. Wool for warmth, acrylic so the knit keeps its shape.
  • The socks: 80% cotton, 17% polyamide, 3% elastane. Terry sole for cushioning, reinforced heel and toe.

Why so much weight?

Because a heavy garment ages better. It creases less, stretches less, and gives your silhouette a structure no logo can replace.
